Funeral Poems : God Saw You Getting Tired

God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so he put his arms around you
and whispered,
“Come to Me”

With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly
we could not make you stay.

A Golden heart stopped beating
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
he only takes the best

This is a lovely poem for someone who had a long illness before they died.

Is there an author for this poem? My mother passed away after great suffering and I would like to use it for her cards. Thanks.

I’m sure it would be OK to use this poem on cards for your Mother’s funeral.

Most authors of funeral poems expect their poems to be used in this way, and usually allow the poerms to be freely used as long as they are being used for personal and not business reasons. For example, it WOULD be OK to use it at a funeral and have it printed on funeral cards used at a service. It would NOT be OK for a card manufacturer to have it printed onto cards that they would then sell in a card shop.

In this case you’re doubly safe as the author appears to be unknown.
