I only said “I love you”,
if only I’d said more.
But in that phrase “I love you”,
is everything for sure.
It means I’ll miss you dearly,
your voice and gentle touch.
It means I’ll miss you daily,
so very, very much.
If I’d have had more warning,
I’d have told you such a lot,
But you went without the telling.
much more than just a jot.
If I had been more forthright,
and if I had made a start.
I’d have poured out words forever,
and told you all my heart.
But I only said “I love you”,
if only I’d said more.
But in that phrase “I love you”,
is everything for sure.
